Everton’s Romelu Lukaku has been hailed as one of the Premier League’s leading strikers by Burnley’s Ben Mee.
After ending a six-month barren spell for his club, stretching back six months and 13 games to the FA Cup quarter-final victory over his former side Chelsea, Lukaku has been in a rich scoring vein since breaking his duck in spectacular fashion with an 11-minute hat-trick at Sunderland on September 12.
Having bagged a brace for Belgium in his previous game, the 23-year-old has now found the net nine times in his last seven matches for club and country, a run that includes his impressive solo strike at Manchester City last time out.
Former City trainee Mee, who has now clocked up 189 appearances for Burnley, acknowledges that Lukaku provides a threat but isn’t planning to take any out of the ordinary steps to thwart him.
